Women Who Rock has put together an incredible list of books by some of the best Women Who Rock! If you’re not a member of the WWR Book Club and haven’t read these titles yet, we have compiled some of the best below to get you started on this year’s reading list! If you are interested in joining the WWR Book Club, stay tuned! We will be relaunching the book club this summer.

This is the autobiography of singer-songwriter Tina Turner, also known as “The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” The story tells the full tale of her humble beginnings and the development of her passion for music through her successful music career, while also diving into the challenges of her personal life.

Just Kids – Patti Smith

This memoir follows the story of musician, poet, and artist Patti Smith, as the tale of two children who help one another achieve their dreams. It follows her and this childhood friend as he becomes her friend, partner, muse, protector, and supporter.

The Beat of My Own Drum – Sheila E.

This book walks through the impressive career of “The Queen of Percussion” Sheila E., including her tours with Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, Prince, and Ringo Starr. The story then goes on to speak broadly about how music can truly be a life saver.

More Myself – Alicia Keys

This story starts at the root of Alicia Keys’ life, from growing up in Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem to finding her own path of self-discovery. This in-depth look takes readers on a journey as she learns about herself, her past, and her worth.
