Known as the Queen of Percussion, Sheila E. has a special place in the hearts of all of us at Women Who Rock. Sheila E. is an Emmy and Grammy award-nominated musician with over 40 years of experience in the music industry, proving herself to be one of the best percussionists in the world.

She performed at the Women Who Rock benefit concert at Stage AE in May 2019, helping to raise funds and awareness for Magee-Womens Research Institute and continues to help us “Rock the Future of Women’s Health” and empower women.

Sheila E. is an advocate for women everywhere, using the power of music to share her story and lend a voice to those who need it most.

Recently, Sheila E. has undertaken a new project called Little Drummer Girlz, a collaboration with three young female drummers to create a new spin on the holiday classic, “Little Drummer Boy.” The song features Sarah Thawer from Canada, 10-year-old Geneva London from England, and 10-year-old CHITAA from Japan.

This new song blends the classic melody of “Little Drummer Boy” with unique pop/rock beats to create a whole new holiday classic for everyone. All proceeds raised from the sale of the digital song will benefit the continued education of the Little Drummer Girlz.

Sheila E. met all of the girls involved in this project through various social networks, and will continue to mentor them as they all pursue futures with percussion.

“What drives me is really just being able to be a blessing to someone, you know,” said Sheila E. “I really enjoy that, and as much as I can do, I will.”
