The Vindys Rock International Women's Day
BY LAURA HARPER/WWR Staff Writer
Women Who Rock™ hosted a spectacular celebration for International Women’s Day on March 8 with a performance at the Hard Rock Café in Pittsburgh featuring Ohio based alternative rock band The Vindys. Vocalist Jackie Popovec captivated the audience with her powerful vocals and unforgettable performance, taking time in between songs to comment on power of women and the significance of such a performance to benefit lifesaving women’s health research.
Before The Vindys took the stage, the show was kicked off by a performance by last year’s Women Who Rock™ Rising Star Contest winner Graciela, who hyped up the crowd with her original music and covers of some classic hits.
Apart from the incredible music, the night also featured photo ops on the pink carpet, the Jolene signature pink cocktail sponsored by Tito’s Vodka, a chance to shop the official Women Who Rock™ apparel and accessory collection, and a raffle where one lucky lady won a Gibson Guitar. Proceeds from ticket sales, the raffle, and a giveback from the Jolene cocktail benefited lifesaving women’s health research at Magee-Womens Research Institute.
Following the March 8 show, Women Who Rock™ will also present The Vindys at the Hard Rock Café Niagara Falls as part of their partnership with the Hard Rock Café this March.
