Let's Talk About Women's Heart Health
As we wrap up American Heart Month, it is crucial to address the disparity found in Women’s Heart Health. Did you know that heart disease is the top killer of women in the United States?
Women are more likely to die than men from a heart attack. However, only 36% of women ask their doctor for a heart health screening – and only 1 in 3 of those women get screened. Disparities also exist for women of different races and ethnicities, including a 30% higher death rate for Black women.
The American Heart Association recommends both women and men begin regular heart screenings starting at 20 years old.
