Taylor Swift Breaks Records and Brings ‘The Eras Tour’ to Pittsburgh
Taylor Swift raised the bar this weekend during her two-night, sold-out stop of The Eras Tour. On a tour that’s been consistently sold-out since the beginning, Pittsburgh Swifties showed up and showed out for the Friday and Saturday shows! On Saturday, Swift drew a crowd of 73,117, a new attendance record for Acrisure Stadium. Taylor was shocked and spoke to the audience about how she thought this had to be a mistake, and that she’d confirmed multiple times that this was accurate.
In addition to the attendance record, Taylor Swift also became the first artist to play Acrisure Stadium twice in a row. That said, it seems like she could’ve played for a whole week and fans would’ve shown up every night!
Throughout the show, Swift seemed blown away by the love that the Burgh was showing her. Originally from West Reading, PA, she definitely felt a connection to the fans hailing from her home state. While singing her song Seven, which mentions “Pennsylvania under me,” the cheering in the stadium was louder than we’d ever heard before. Throughout the night, the stadium shook as fans danced, cheered, and screamed their hearts out to Taylor’s biggest hits. Truly, the energy at The Eras Tour is unlike anything you’ve felt before!
The tour, which continues through November, has been hugely successful across the country. Fans spent hours trying to buy tickets online, with each date selling out almost immediately. The tour is estimated to make around $600 million in ticket revenue, Taylor’s highest-grossing tour yet. Additionally, the tour is impacting each city’s tourism and hospitality industries in an incredible way and is estimated to bring the US economy over $5 billion.
Not only is Taylor killing it on tour, but she’s doing better than ever with streaming. Just this weekend, she became the first female artist to surpass 91 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Additionally, her song Cruel Summer from her 2019 album “Lover,” is being released as a single. Taylor shared that this was completely unplanned and is solely due to the amount of streams the song has gotten since her tour started. She was just as shocked as fans were to hear this exciting news!
